What’s a CCTV camera?

The full form of CCTV is Closed Circuit System. It is a system that provides footage used for the surveillance system that can protect people and property. It is used for both small and wide area monitoring. The system has a camera, monitor, video recorder, wires and internet connection for closed-circuit monitoring.

Why is a CCTV camera required?

CCTV surveillance is required to prevent or reduce untoward incidents such as

Theft
One can track when a criminal incident took place, who did it and what’s being robbed. Good quality camera can identify the criminal.

Employee monitoring:

Types of CCTV cameras

There are basically wired and wireless CCTV cameras

Bullet CCTV cameras: 
It is one of the most used CCTV camera for home, parks or any outdoor space. These are mounted on a wall or ceiling. Bullet cameras are waterproof and capture video in a fixed area. These lack features like zooming or panning.

Dome cameras: 
These have dome shape housing. This is visible but does not shout for attention. Dome cameras are quite popular in retail outlets, working area, staffrooms, etc. It is hard for people to know where the camera is directing. It is one of the best cameras to cover large areas/premises.

IP/wireless CCTV Cameras:
It uses the Internet to transmit images. But this won’t affect the Internet speed. Since these don’t require too many cables, the wireless CCTV camera installation process becomes easier compared to the wired cameras.

HD cameras:
HD cameras have zooming features that will help reduce criminal activities.
It is used In places that require higher security, for example in banks, at cash counters or places that have confidential documents stored, need constant and good monitoring.

Night vision CCTV cameras:
Best for traffic signals or parking areas as it provides great video capturing even at the night or in dark places.
